I started playing Hardwar in 1999, and I’ve installed the game on three desktop PCs and my current laptop. Believe me, the first time I played Hardwar, I was befuddled — all I was seemingly able to do was crash my moth over and over again!
However, with patience and dogged determination, I was able to become a master of Titan’s skies. The first times I played the game, I tried to become a scavenger, and then a trader. However, I wasn’t up to the task of scurrying for jettisoned cargo or safely hauling valuable goods across MisOp’s skies, so I soon turned to moth dogfighting.
Luckily, it turned out to be my forte. Because I became (modesty aside) a good moth fighter pilot through the weeks, that left me with two career options. One, become a pirate. Two, become a pirate-killer.
I chose the latter.
Keeping in line with my alter-ego and online persona, I chose the name Corsarius when starting with my not-so-holier-than-thou bounty hunter character. That’s quite ironic, as “Corsarius” (or “cursarius”) is Latin for “pirate”. That’s why I concocted another simple yet memorable moniker for my character — the Roguebane, terror of Titan’s buccaneers.
As the Roguebane Counter indicates on the sidebar, I’ve shot down scores of pirate scum, though several of my kills weren’t recognized by the MisOp Police. It’s alright; after all, I’ve gotten thousands upon thousands of bucks from these guys as reward!
I’ve invested my plentiful bounty in a couple of real estate properties in MisOp, and they’ve been drawing in the dough. So, in addition to being the apple of MisOp cops’ eyes (a rotten apple to the many corrupt policemen lurking in the shadows, to be sure) and the champion of Downtown’s traders (as well as scavengers, who profit from my battles with the corsairs), the Roguebane has been building up his reputation as a “Hangar Mogul”.
But if you’re thinking the Roguebane is all about doing good, think again…!
